Who holds your information
Chinyama is operated by Cabanga Africa (Pty) Ltd, a company registered in Botswana. Questions about anything on this page go to info@cabanga.africa.
What we collect
Only what you type into a form. For a holder listing that is the detail of the animals, the district and nearest town, tag and veterinary status, a price expectation, your name and your WhatsApp number. For a buyer requirement it is what you need, where you want it, your buyer type and licence status, your company name and your WhatsApp number.
What we publish
The detail of the animals or the requirement, and the district. We do not publish your name, your company name, your address or your contact number anywhere on this site. Contact details are passed to another party only when you have agreed to an introduction.
What we do not do
We do not sell your contact details. We do not run advertising trackers. We do not build a profile of you across other websites. There are no accounts, so there is no password to lose.
What sits on your device
Your reference codes and the districts you watch are stored in your own browser using local storage. They never leave your device. Clearing your browser data deletes them and we cannot restore them.
Where submissions go
Submissions reach Chinyama by email and, once connected, through a form service and a private spreadsheet used to coordinate introductions. They are kept for as long as the listing is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for record purposes.
Your choices
Write to info@cabanga.africa with your reference code to have a listing removed, corrected, or your details deleted from our records.
Which law applies
Chinyama operates across more than one jurisdiction, so more than one data protection regime can apply to the same listing. Where a person posts from Botswana, the Data Protection Act of Botswana governs. Where a person posts from South Africa, the Protection of Personal Information Act governs, and Cabanga Africa (Pty) Ltd acts as the responsible party. Where a person posts from Zimbabwe, the Data Protection Act [Chapter 11:12] governs. Where a person outside these countries posts, we apply whichever of these gives that person the stronger protection.
Information Regulator (South Africa) registration: [CLIENT FILLS: registration number or state not yet registered]. Botswana Information and Data Protection Commission registration: [CLIENT FILLS: registration number or state not yet registered]. Data protection officer: [CLIENT FILLS: name and contact].
The lawful basis for holding it
We hold what you type on two bases and no others. The first is your own consent, given when you confirm the code we email you - nothing is stored before that confirmation. The second is the legitimate interest of running an introduction service, which covers keeping a reference code against a listing so that a buyer, a seller and a transporter can be matched to the same consignment.
How long we keep it
A listing and its contact details are kept for [CLIENT FILLS: retention period, for example twelve months] from the date it was posted, or until you ask for it to be removed, whichever comes first. Records we are required to keep for tax or statutory reasons are kept for the period that law requires and no longer.
Who else sees it
The board shows the district, the animals and the reference code. It does not show your name, your number or your email address. Your contact details are passed to a counterparty only when you have agreed to that specific introduction. Our infrastructure providers process data on our instruction and hold it under contract: [CLIENT FILLS: list of processors, for example the mail and spreadsheet provider and the hosting provider]. We do not sell data and we do not run advertising trackers.

If something goes wrong
If data we hold is exposed in a way that puts a person at risk, we notify the affected people and the relevant regulator within the period the applicable act requires.
